Course overview

This module will enable students to appraise the evidence of distinct types of simulation activities and evaluate and apply the design, delivery, and assessment in alignment to simulation standards, frameworks, and evidence-based practice, whilst demonstrating management, mentoring, and leadership skills.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module a student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate critical insight to the management, mentorship, and leadership of simulation activities to include the design and delivery of simulation activities.
  2. Compare and appraise the strategic management of simulation to include considerations of roles and resources within a facility combined with space and equipment management.
  3. Illustrate and argue the operational management of simulation activities, making appropriate design decisions to meet the intended objectives and stakeholder needs.
  4. Assess and appraise validated tools of assessment for simulation, and construct and validate new tools

Assessment

Digital Critique: 80% weighting, 50% pass mark.
Learning Outcomes: 3 & 4,
Outline Details: Students will annotate and digitally critique a recorded simulation activity and disseminate it through simulation communication channels.

Reflective Account: 20% weighting, 50% pass mark.
Learning Outcomes: 1 & 2.
Outline Details: Students will reflect on the experience of sharing their digital critique amongst the simulation community.

All elements of summative assessment must be passed to pass the module.

Formative Assessment: Undertaking simulation activities relating to their portfolio in a simulated practice area on which they will receive feedback.
