Course overview
This course can only be taken as part of a programme.
- To prepare nurses and midwives (pharmacists and other allied health professionals pending regulatory body approval) to practice as independent/supplementary prescribers
- To develop the knowledge and skills required by an approved allied health professional (dietitians and diagnostic radiographers) to practice as a supplementary prescriber (HCPC approval applied for)
- To meet the standards set by the respective professional/regulatory body as required within the legislative framework.
Assessment
Assessments include: written assignments, case study analysis, multiple choice questions (MCQs), narrative based on portfolio entries, attendance of period of learning in practice and a "practical assessment of prescribing practice" (PAPP).
