Course overview
This module is for qualified healthcare professionals who wish to develop their knowledge of the care and management of patients living with diabetes.
Diabetes is a long-term condition affecting about 3.8 million people (diagnosed and undiagnosed) in England, representing about 9% of the adult population (Public Health England, 2016). The cost of Type 2 diabetes to the NHS has been put at £8.8 billion each year (Public Health England, 2016).
This module will provide you with the opportunity to develop specialist skills and evidence-based knowledge in the care and management of diabetes. It relies on key diabetes studies, including those that focus on diabetic emergencies and diabetic-related complications and research evidence to explain the clinical management. The module draws on the various National Institute for Health and Care Excellence Guidelines (2018; 2015)
